Steve von Bergen has admitted that Palermo will have to improve their mentality if they are to escape the threat of relegation.

The Sicilian club were pegged back after going two goals up against Milan on Tuesday, and the Swiss defender has admitted that, although new Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has made a difference, the players will have to find some confidence if they are to move from their current 17th place in Serie A.

“Against Milan we played a great first half,” he told a Press conference. “Then we sat back in the second half. We were disappointed to only draw

“Since Gasperini has joined us, we have become a tougher team to beat, but we still have to improve something mentally. Victories will improve our League position.”

He also commented on the Rosanero's upcoming match with Zdenek Zeman's defensively frail Roma side.

“Every team has its weakness,” he said. “But they are far ahead of us in the standings. It will be a great challenge for us, facing great strikers like Francesco Totti, Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo.”
