Palermo coach Silvio Baldini and director Renzo Castagnini have both resigned after clashes with the new owners, City Group.

The Sicilians might be under new ownership, but the general sense of chaos around the club continues, even after their promotion into Serie B.

Only last month City Group representatives completed the takeover of Palermo and announced they would continue with Baldini and Castagnini at the helm.

However, there was increasing tension between the owners and director of sport Castagnini, who decided to resign.

Coach Baldini had already warned he would not continue in Palermo without Castagnini, so he too has formally handed in his resignation this evening.

The situation was troubled, as this morning Baldini cancelled the training session and reportedly told his players of the decision to walk away.

With the Serie B season only weeks away, this is the last thing that the club needed on its return to the major leagues after bankruptcy.
