Palermo have officially sacked Coach Giuseppe Iachini and replaced him with Davide Ballardini.
Iachini's position was believed to be under threat after a disappointing start to the season and he was shown the door today despite a 1-0 win against Chievo on the weekend.
His successor Ballardini has taken over and this will be the former Bologna Coach's second stint with the Rosanero, having coached them in 2008/09.
The decision was announced today through an official statement on the Palermo website.
"U.S. Palermo announce that Giuseppe Iachini has been relieved of his duties as Coach of the first team," it read.
"Heartfelt thanks go to the Coach from the President and the club for his work and the goals achieved in the last two seasons, and we wish him the best for the rest of his career.
"Simultaneously, the club announces that Mr Davide Ballardini has been entrusted to guide the first team.
"The tactician from Ravenna, who has led Lazio, Genoa and Bologna in recent seasons after Palermo, has signed until June 30 2016.
"Ballardini will be presented today. The time and place of the Press conference will be noted later."
