Palermo could end up like Venezia if a “willing investor” is not found, the Rosanero’s current owner Maurizio Zamparini has warned.

A sale to Italo-American businesmann Frank Cascio collapsed last month, leaving Zamparini’s ownership of Palermo intact and the President to compare his club’s situation with that of his former side Venezia, who folded in 2005 – just three years after their relegation from Serie A and the retail tycoon’s involvement.

Palermo could end up like Venezia if a “willing investor” is not found, the Rosanero’s current owner Maurizio Zamparini has warned.

“What will Palermo be like after me?” he was asked by Tg Med Sport XL.

“If I put them in the hands of serious entrepreneurs, because I think that football has a social future and not only an economic one, then they may have a good future.

“I have to find those who are willing to invest. If I don’t find entrepreneurs like that, Palermo could end up like Venezia.”
