Rodrigo Palacio “can’t wait” to get his Inter career started and wants Ezequiel Lavezzi to join him. “With Pocho we’d be truly stellar!”

The Genoa striker has agreed a transfer to San Siro worth around €11m, where he will reunite with fellow Argentina international Diego Milito.

“I reach Inter at the right time,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I am so happy to be here. The club wanted me last season too, but the important thing is I got there in the end.

“President Massimo Moratti and Coach Andrea Stramaccioni really impressed me. I am 30 years old, so it’s the perfect time to arrive at a big club like this. Inter are the best I could’ve hoped for.

“I already know many of the players. Milito, Pupi Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, we all go back a long way. We often met up on international duty with Argentina.”

There could be another Argentine in the mix, as the Nerazzurri have made no secret of the fact they are trying to sign Lavezzi from Napoli.

“Inter are already a great squad and I can’t wait to play with Milito or even Giampaolo Pazzini, who really impressed me when he played at Sampdoria,” continued Palacio.

“If Pocho were to arrive too, then we’d be truly stellar in attack! Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Lavezzi too, but I really hope he can come and join us at Inter.”

‘Trenza’ is already looking forward to two games in particular next season.

“Derbies fire me up and I have played quite a few in my career, often being a protagonist. I even scored a hat-trick once…”
