“I think we had a great performance in a difficult arena against a very strong time. We proved ourselves, scored three goals, showed sacrifice and humility, so we must continue like this,” La Trenza told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a bit of everything. We have great faith in the coach and his style of football, we work hard during the week and want to keep this momentum going.”

Bologna notched up their third consecutive Serie A victory and are currently in sixth place.

“I don’t know how far we can go, we’ve got to take it one game at a time, the same way we approached this one. If we do that, I think we can get into the top half of the table, but then we’ll see.”

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was only released from hospital this morning after anti-viral treatment, as his battle with leukaemia continues, but immediately travelled to Rome so he could sit on the bench.

“Having Mihajlovic on the bench fires us up even more, it’s natural. When he is in the locker room, or on the bench, you can sense the difference.
