Former Inter goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca insists he ‘would have another Scudetto if there had been technology’ in 1997-98, when Juventus ‘stole’ the title.
The incidents of that season were not covered by the Calciopoli investigation, but after the verdict in 2006, the Nerazzurri players and fans saw it with a different viewpoint.
“It was 1997-98, the year that Ronaldo arrived. We won the UEFA Cup and Juventus ‘stole’ the Scudetto, and I say that in inverted commas,” Pagliuca told the Corriere dello Sport.

“It was a fantastic year and it could’ve been historic, but it wasn’t, and that was through no fault of our own.
“We saw goals that weren’t given when the ball clearly crossed the line, some incredible penalties not awarded… very, very strange situations.
“Such as for example the goal that wasn’t seen in Empoli-Juve or another in Juve-Udinese. Let’s just say that I would have another Scudetto if there had been technology at the time.”
