Simone Padoin could return to Juventus as a member of Max Allegri’s coaching staff after Andrea Barzagli turned down the offer.

According to Tuttosport, the former midfielder and fan favourite is one of the main candidates to join Allegri’s team going into the 2021-22 season.

The 37-year-old wore the Juve jersey from 2012 to 2016, before spells at Cagliari and Ascoli, hanging up his boots in October 2020.

Padoin was spotted at the Continassa training ground yesterday and Tuttosport claim he was in a meeting to discuss joining the coaching staff.

Barzagli had been asked to come back, after a brief spell working under Maurizio Sarri for the Bianconeri, but has already taken on a new role as commentator for DAZN.

Padoin won five Serie A titles at Juventus, making 107 appearances in various different roles.

It’s believed he is looking forward to a career as a coach and feels he can learn from one of the best when working with Allegri on this return to Juventus.
