Monza defender Pablo Marì posted a picture from hospital after being involved in a shocking stabbing attack near Milan yesterday.

The 29-year-old was buying groceries with his wife and his four-year son when Andrea Tombolini, a 46-year-old man, stabbed him in the back, leaving four others wounded and killing one person, a 30-year-old cashier.

Marì underwent surgery this morning and Monza announced in an official statement that the player would have to rest for at least two months before the gradual return to training.

The Arsenal loanee has posted his first picture from the hospital with his wife after yesterday’s incident.

“After the hard moment, we experienced yesterday, both my family and I want to communicate that fortunately we are all fine despite the circumstances, and we want to thank all the messages of support and affection that we are receiving,” he said.

“In addition, we want to send our condolences and all our strength to the family and friends of the deceased person, and we sincerely wish that all injured people recover as soon as possible.”
