Sky sources are reporting that England’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out of action for up to three weeks.

The winger started the Three Lions’ World Cup warm-up against Ecuador yesterday evening but had to be substituted during the second half of the 2-2 draw in Miami.

Initial fears that the 20-year-old had sustained knee ligament damage were wide of the mark, but it is said the Arsenal man will be out for a minimum of ten days.

As such, he will almost certainly miss England’s World Cup opener against Italy. He could however return in time to feature in his country’s other two Group D matches, against Uruguay and Costa Rica.
