Overmars: ‘Younes has signed for Napoli’

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars says “there’s no way” Amin Younes can stay beyond this season as “he’s already signed with Napoli”.

The winger is believed to have signed a pre-contract with the Partenopei, and was set to bring his move forward to January.

However, after taking a medical and attending the San Paolo, Younes called the move off, ostensibly to be close to his ill grandfather.

Since then though the German international has hinted that he doesn’t want to join Napoli, even stating he could stay with Ajax after June 30.

“According to the information I have, Younes has already signed for Napoli,” Overmars told the Telegraaf.

“As a result there’s no way he can stay with us for next season.”

It nevertheless appears increasingly certain that Younes will never play for Napoli, with the Partenopei likely to sell him as soon as his contract becomes active.
