Walter Mazzarri has received an outpouring of support in the Serie A world following the death of his mother Edda.

His mother sadly passed away earlier today in their home town of San Vincenzo, in the province of Livorno. The 60-year-old Italian coach lost his father Alberto in 2006 whilst he was in charge of Reggina.

Cagliari announced the news earlier this afternoon, when Tommaso Giulini and the club’s staff expressed their condolences and support for Mazzarri following his loss.

Torino, where he spent two years from 2018 to 2020, swiftly followed and president Urbano Cairo and his staff also pledged their affection and support.

Napoli, president Aurelio De Laurentiis and his staff all also underlined their support for him. Mazzarri spent four years with the Partenopei from 2009 to 2013, picking up a Coppa Italia title and a second place finish in Serie A. His Cagliari side are currently six points clear of relegation candidates Venezia.
