Former Roma and Italy striker Dani Osvaldo could be set for a return to football with Diego Maradona’s Gimnasia La Plata.

Osvaldo has been out of football since retiring in 2016, but ANSA claims he is close to a sensational comeback in his native Argentina.

That is because Gimnasia, now under the guidance of Maradona, are on the lookout for a new centre-forward to replace the injured Lautaro Chavez.

The 33-year-old also played for the likes of Fiorentina, Southampton, Juventus and Inter, while scoring four goals in 14 caps for Italy.
