Former Italy striker Daniel Osvaldo is ready to join FC Porto as a free agent, two years after Roma sold him for €17m.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo assures the Argentine-born forward has agreed personal terms with Porto and will complete the move this weekend.

Now 29, Osvaldo has had a tumultuous career, mainly due to his lack of discipline both on and off the field.

He famously punched Roma teammate Erik Lamela in a locker room row and was hounded out by fans after insulting his Coach in the Coppa Italia Final.

Now 29, Osvaldo has had a tumultuous career, mainly due to his lack of discipline both on and off the field.

He famously punched Roma teammate Erik Lamela in a locker room row and was hounded out by fans after insulting his Coach in the Coppa Italia Final.

In August 2013 he was sold to Southampton for a club record €15.1 plus bonuses for a total of £12.8m.

In January 2014 the striker was banned for three matches and fined £40,000 for violent conduct in a fracas against Newcastle United.

Within three weeks he had been suspended by the club for headbutting teammate Jose Fonte in a training ground incident.

Osvaldo was loaned out to Juventus, then Inter, but the Nerazzurri suspended him in January 2015 for going AWOL from training and attempting to attack teammate Mauro Icardi during a match.

In February he was loaned to Boca Juniors, but they too decided against making the move permanent.

Southampton finally terminated Osvaldo’s contract by mutual consent on July 1, allowing him to become a free agent.
