The Italy international appeared from the bench during yesterday evening’s pre-season friendly, for a first appearance since completing his initial loan move from Southampton.

“I really wanted to play and needed to take to the field,” Osvaldo considered afterwards to reporters.

“This game, on a personal level, was like a workout aimed to increase my condition.

“My teammates are currently ahead of me on fitness, but no-one is yet at their maximum. Overall, though, we are on the right track.

“I tried to help out particularly in defensive phases, it was hot and we were put under pressure. Only later on was I able to try to create something in attack.

“But I am still behind, the legs are not there yet.”

This is Inter’s final game before competitive action, starting next Wednesday in the Europa League Play-off round.

“Yeah, now the fun begins. We have a week to prepare, but I think that we will get to the game without any kind of problem.”
