Italy striker Pablo Osvaldo says it was more difficult to break down Malta than it was Bulgaria in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
The Azzurri collected a 2-0 win, but struggled in between Matta Destro’s early strike and Federico Peluso’s late finish.
“There was less space out there for us than in the game against Bulgaria,” the Roma centre-forward noted. “We dominated the whole match, but there was very little room for us.
“It was easier when Lorenzo Insigne came on as he is able to take on and beat his man which creates space.”
Osvaldo scored twice in the 2-2 in Sofia on Friday, but failed to find the net at the Stadio Braglia in Modena.
“I’m satisfied with my performance against Malta and very happy with the result.”
