Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti says he would ‘prefer not to speak’ about forward Stefano Okaka.
The striker was involved in a bust-up with Osti and Samp Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic yesterday, and was sent home from training, amidst rumours he wants to leave the club.
The former Roma man later posted a cryptic message on his Facebook page, declaring that ‘the truth will come out’, but the director was in no mood to discuss things further.
“I’d prefer not to speak about the argument,” Osti told Primocanale.
“The club has issued a statement and we need to stick to that. Let’s enjoy this happy moment, we’re third in the table with 30 points, and when the League started I don’t think anyone thought we could achieve that.
“In reaching third place, Sampdoria have proved to have quality players, it’s normal that there are a few other clubs with their eyes on our lads.
“However, I’ve read too many of those kinds of rumours, that Sampdoria are ready to send players anywhere.
“This club has very clear ideas, but if someone isn’t happy at Sampdoria all they have to do is raise their hand and say it, because we’re ready to look at everything.”
Osti also discussed Luis Muriel, who is on the verge of joining the Blucerchiati after a protracted transfer saga.
“It was a very long negotiation, in which there were moments of great friction between the two clubs.
“But the deal is successful, we think the player will really bring us something extra. We’re waiting for him with open arms and we hope he’ll get back on the pitch soon.”
