Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti insists there are no doubts over Vincenzo Montella – “we strongly believe in him”.
The former Fiorentina boss replaced Walter Zenga last month, but has so far lost all of his three games in charge of the Blucerchiati.
“Our position is not what we expected,” Osti admitted, speaking to Mediaset ahead of the Lazio match.
“We have to face reality, and find ourselves this evening. We went to a training camp to regroup, we hope that’s helped and the team can find themselves.

“Montella is not up for discussion, we strongly believe in him. We got him because he’s a professional and a great Coach.
“We know that in football things can be rushed, but we believe we made the right choice. The team will improve quickly and bring us satisfaction.”
Osti was also asked about the January transfer window, and revised goals for the season.
“We never said that our goal was Europe, it’s the top half of the League. Not much has changed, though of course we have to watch our backs.
“With a run of results though we can get back to where we want to be in the League. Right now, when considering our position we should be looking back, but this team has the quality to be more competitive.
"January? It's still a while away, we need to get more of an idea about how this Sampdoria will play."
