Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina said the team are doing great but stressed ‘the road is still long’ and pointed at Zambo Anguissa as the perfect fit at the Partenopei. ‘We needed someone like him’.

The Azzurri have won five on the bounce and sit alone at the top of Serie A with 15 points so far and Ospina has been back in goal in recent weeks.

The Colombian goalkeeper lost the position to Alex Meret at the start of the season, but an injury to the Italy international has seen Ospina reclaim the gloves at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

After another great performance in the 4-0 win over Sampdoria on Thursday, Ospina claimed the three points matter the most for the Azzurri.

“The team’s result counts more than my performance,” Ospina told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “We wanted three points, yesterday was a good game and I made a good save on Adrien.

“It was important to keep a clean sheet. It’s a good moment for us, but we are keeping our feet on the ground.

“The road is still long, the championship has just started.”

Luciano Spalletti replaced Gennaro Gattuso during the summer and Ospina enjoys working with the former Roma and Inter coach.

“We are doing things well, he has great experience and gives us a lot of confidence,” he continued. “We can do great things with him.”

Victor Osimhen continued with a brace against the Blucerchiati and the 22-year-old has scored five in five games so far.

“He’s a great guy who works hard and always wants to learn,” Ospina said about the Nigerian. “He gives everything for Napoli.

“He’s an important player for us, to have him at this level.”

Ospina’s has earned the nickname ‘Spiderman’ and revealed he enjoys the praise.

“I like it,” he laughed. “But I leave these things to you, I think about working hard for Napoli. We want to win all the games, the collective satisfactions are most important.”

André Zambo Anguissa arrived from Fulham ahead of the new season and has impressed in Serie A.

“He’s a very strong player, he can help us a lot,” Ospina continued. “We absolutely needed him, he has the right maturity and experience.

“He raised our level to achieve the targets we want.”
