Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina said he keeps working hard ‘to be ready’ when he gets the opportunity, after losing his place at the Partnopei to Alex Meret.

The Partenopei have decided to give Meret the gloves at the Stadio Diego Maradona, but Ospina could be back in goal against Juventus this weekend, as the Italy international has suffered a back injury.

Meret was sent home from the Azzurri camp ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers this month, as they discovered an injury after the second Serie A game against Genoa.

Colombia CT confirms Ospina is ‘available’

Ospina was asked about his situation in Naples and the Colombia international stressed he continues to push for a place in the team.

“This situation has presented itself recently at the Azzurri,” Ospina said at a press conference during international duty with Colombia.

“But I keep a good level and I have the rhythm because I’m always training to be ready to play in case I get the possibility.

“I need to always feel at 100 per cent to keep my advantages in the best possible way for an opportunity at the club and with the national team. This is the only way I can help myself to be in the best possible conditions.”

Napoli panicked when Ospina suffered an injury during a match with Colombia this month but the former Arsenal goalkeeper should be ready to play against the Bianconeri.
