Former Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli, now at Juventus, says that signing Victor Osimhen in 2020 was the most difficult deal in his career: ‘It took me four months…’

Giuntoli took several months to sign Osimhen from Lille in 2020 when the Nigerian forward joined Napoli.

When Corriere della Sera asked Giuntoli, now at Juventus, what was the most difficult deal in his career, he replied: “Perhaps Victor [Osimhen]. It took me four months to bring him to Napoli.

Osimhen ultimately joined Napoli for €77m in 2020 and has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances with the Partenopei.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season earlier this month when his release clause at the Stadio Maradona was lowered from €130m to €75m.

“Maybe he should have been sold earlier, but Aurelio [De Laurentiis, Napoli President] is a wise and intelligent businessman. I owe him so much, and I love him,” concluded Giuntoli.

Juventus have been linked with signing Osimhen, but Galatasaray vice-president İbrahim Hatipoğlu has insisted that the 25-year-old will remain at the Turkish club at least until the end of the season.
