Victor Osimhen explains his improvement in the air after another header and insists Napoli ‘still believe in the Scudetto.’

The Nigeria international bagged his second consecutive brace to overturn Udinese 2-1, after allowing his team to beat Hellas Verona last week.

It means he has scored each of Napoli’s last four Serie A goals, but a late yellow card for handball rules him out of the showdown with Atalanta through suspension.

“The atmosphere was really good, even though we weren’t really ourselves in the first half, but we showed a good reaction in the second half,” Osimhen told DAZN.

“Big thank you to the fans never stopped cheering us on and this win is really very important for us.”

There was also an Udinese penalty appeal in stoppages, but Osimhen clearly told Gerard Deulofeu he was so confident that he encouraged a VAR review.

“I was showing it hit me in the chest, so I was really sure. He was telling me check the VAR, I said go ahead, no problem, because I know it hit me in the chest.”

Wearing the protective mask is no longer mandatory after the devastating multiple facial fractures in October, but he continues to wear it. Does this also now represent a lucky charm?

“I think so, but I really try to master the heading in training and to be able to put this into practice in the game is a big advantage.

“I will continue to use it until the doctors say I can go without it.”

Napoli were seemingly out of the Scudetto race after a home defeat to Milan, but they are currently level at the top, awaiting the Rossoneri’s trip to Cagliari this evening.

“We keep believing, we have eight games to go, we want to continue the momentum to win every game, and at the end we’ll see. I still believe in the Scudetto.”
