Victor Osimhen will not take part in Napoli’s first game of the new season and finds himself increasingly isolated as a summer transfer fails to materialise.

The 25-year-old Nigerian striker was widely expected to leave the Partenopei in a high-profile transfer this summer, signing a new contract back in December that includes a €130m release clause, giving him a way out of the Campania capital.

No club is willing to pay Osimhen’s release clause and the most serious suitors Paris Saint-Germain haven’t offered over €100m. Chelsea were linked with a move as part of a deal involving Romelu Lukaku, but the striker refused a loan move, and the idea ultimately collapsed.

Osimhen left in Napoli limbo

Page 16 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Osimhen is continuing to follow an individual training plan at the Napoli sports centre as he waits for a move away this summer.

He won’t take part in their Coppa Italia first round clash against Modena on Saturday evening, having not taken part in any of their pre-season friendlies.

With limited options, the Nigerian striker is now waiting for a relaunch from PSG or a serious offer from Saudi Arabia, being increasingly isolated at Napoli.

  1. Pathetic treatment by Napoli. They’re trying to get rid of a player whose goals helped them win scudetto for an ungrateful cheating overrated snake named Lukaku.

  2. Napoli is the most ungrateful team in the world and Osinmen’s manager is the most useless in the world for not advicing the young lad accordingly when he resigned in December last year. One will think that after the caricature they did about him missing that penalty, he’d have let go
