The Lega Serie A have named their Players of the Season, including Victor Osimhen, Nicolò Barella, Kim Min-jae, Nicolò Fagioli and Ivan Provedel.
The 2022-23 campaign comes to a close on Sunday and there are still a few things to be decided, such as the final relegation spot and who goes into the Europa League or Conference League.
Napoli dominated the top spot from start to finish and it’s no wonder they feature so heavily in the Team of the Season rankings, which were calculated using Stats Perform data.
Osimhen is on track to be named Capocannoniere and is therefore also the best striker of the season, pushing back Lautaro Martinez of Inter and last year’s Serie A MVP Rafael Leao of Milan.
His Napoli teammate Kim Min-jae gets the nod as best defender, beating out Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Milan full-back Theo Hernandez.
The best midfielder award goes to Inter man Barella, who was preferred to Adrien Rabiot of Juventus and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Lazio’s Ivan Provedel is the best goalkeeper ahead of Michele Di Gregorio of Monza and Bologna’s Lukasz Skorupski.
There is also a separate award for best Under-23 Italian player, which went to Juventus youth product Fagioli, beating Empoli’s Tommaso Baldanzi and Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.
