Napoli and Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen hinted he’s ready for his comeback with a protective mask after multiple facial fractures that required six plaques and 18 screws.

The forward has been out of action since an horrific clash of heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar on November 21.

The surgeon who performed the operation to stabilise the fractures described it as a “compression injury. The kinetic force generated by the crushing of Osimhen’s face against the back of Skriniar’s head did devastating damage.”

Surgeon: ‘Osimhen needed six plaques and 18 screws to stabilise fracture’

It took six plaques and 18 screws to stabilise the various fractures in his face.

Osimhen has returned to training this week with the aid of a protective mask and showed it off with a post on social media, along with a hint the time of his comeback is getting close.

The 23-year-old pulled out of the Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria after contracting COVID-19 last month, the second time he has been infected.

It’s possible Osimhen will be on the bench for tomorrow’s Serie A game between Napoli and Bologna.

  1. I will be happy to see Osimhen return. He’s got a lot of maturing to do, but if he learns to play more responsively, he could lead Napoli to a Scudetto sometime in the next five years.

That is, of course, if ADL doesn’t find a way to sabotage the team. That’s a big “if”.
