Victor Osimhen insists that his sole focus is on Napoli, but adds that ‘every player has the ambition to play in the Premier League.

Stories of renewed interest in the Serie A top scorer, particularly from the Premier League, have continued to make headlines over recent weeks.

On Wednesday, the Manchester Evening News reported the Red Devils’ coach Erik ten Hag has made the Nigeria international his transfer priority for the summer.

When asked by Corriere della Sera whether he would like to play in England one day, Osimhen replied: “I think it is an ambition of all players. And who knows, maybe one day. Right now, I can assure you that it hasn’t even crossed my mind. It would distract me from what has been a beautiful season. Only Napoli. That’s all”.

Osimhen currently stands unchallenged at the top of the Serie A goalscoring charts with 19 goals from 20 appearances in 2022-23.

The Nigerian international is also on an eight-game goalscoring streak in the league, requiring only three more to equal Gabriel Batistuta’s record of 11, which was set with Fiorentina during the 1994-95 season.

If Aurelio De Laurentiis and the Partenopei board were to allow Osimhen to move on in the summer, he would command a hefty price tag as the club President suggested in his latest interview last week.
