Napoli star Victor Osimhen was absent from this morning’s training session on the eve of a key Champions League fixture against Braga as he flew to Morocco to attend the African Footballer of the Year Award.
La Repubblica reports Osimhen didn’t take part in this morning’s training session at Castel Volturno as he had taken a private flight from Capodichino Airport, heading to Morocco where he will attend the African Footballer of the Year Award.
The ceremony begins at 19:00 local time, 18:00 GMT, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, on Monday. The Napoli striker, last year’s top scorer in Serie A, is among the favourites alongside Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi.
La Repubblica doesn’t report whether Osimhen’s absence from this morning’s training session had been agreed with his club.
The Partenopei host Braga at the Stadio Maradona on Tuesday in a key Champions League fixture. A draw will be enough to qualify for the Round of 16, but the Partenopei have lost four of their opening seven league games at the Stadio Maradona this season and lost three of their four games under new coach Walter Mazzarri.
