Victor Osimhen released a statement urging people to ‘make them understand how disgusting’ racism is after Napoli teammates were subjected to abuse, while Fiorentina apologised for the incident.

The insults were heard during the post-match interviews after the Partenopei earned a 2-1 Serie A victory at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Koulibaly faces racist Fiorentina fans

Kalidou Koulibaly heard the racist abuse from fans in the stands, which were aimed at him, Victor Osimhen and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Fiorentina were horrified by the incident, so director general Joe Barone went to personally apologise to Koulibaly and his teammates.

Osimhen released a statement via social media, which was retweeted by the official Napoli account.

“Speak to your kids, your parents, make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the color of their skin,” wrote the Nigeria international.

“NOTORACISM.”

  1. Blacks can and are racist as well. My statement coming from experience with encountering reverse racism.

  2. @Vittorio you are part of the problem. He never said it was only whites that were racist. You guys who deny there’s a racism problem are the worst and that’s why italy is still behind in that regard.

  3. With all the education available we still have people like Vittorio. People are abused and you try to turn it on them!!
    Wow… great help!!

  4. @Vittorio – really? Do white players get singled out and booed by stadiums full of black supporters every weekend in Italy? Because that is what we are talking about here.

  5. @Feroli…

It’s impossible to believe that people of color can and demonstrate racist behavior as well, is it not?

Please, So sick and tired of hearing about how blacks are mistreated when African blacks can be just as racist.

That’s the point IM talking about!

  6. @Vittorio Sure blacks can be racist, but what’s that got to do with this article? Anyone from any race can be racist to someone of a different race, but the specific incident being talked about here is (presumably white) Italian fans being racist towards a black player.

  7. @Vittorio
Is either you didn’t read what he wrote or you are among the racist fans out there!!! Disgusting to hate an individual because of his SKIN COLOUR. Which ever skin colour…..

  8. @USEETEE…

U know NOTHING about me. Either you, yourself chose not to read what I wrote.

The fact remains that every culture has racist elements within it.

Why don’t we also discuss this issue when blacks make racist remarks toward Europeans?

Are you denying that reverse racism exists?
