New Milan striker Divock Origi has released his first interview as a new Rossoneri player, highlighting his first chat with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara and his goals for 2022-23.

The Belgium international has joined the Rossoneri on a free transfer after his Liverpool contract expired.

Milan have confirmed today that Origi has signed a contract until 2026.

“Arriving here I felt at home. It’s a historic club, so to me, it’s good to get a sense of the culture, the people, the way things are going and until now, everything has been amazing,” the 27-year-old told Milan TV.

“The first conversation at a club level with Massara and Maldini…it was nice to speak to them and see their vision, how the club is evolving. Being able to get the atmosphere at San Siro, for me, was always a special feeling,

“I saw the team play, how the coach manages the team, and how the team defends. I’ve always known Milan as a huge club and all these things are elements that led to me being able to join the club.”

Origi’s Liverpool played at San Siro during the Champions League group stage last season and the Belgian striker netted the winner against the Rossoneri.

“My first impression was the stadium, you can feel the history and how mystical it was to be able to play there, even at the time for us,” he said.

“You could feel the football culture, you could feel the energy. They care a lot about this club. Also the style of the team, lot of energy, attacking, lot of quality. These are all things that I really love.

“It’s a place where people live for football, they love football. I know the history of the club, 19 leagues, seven Champions Leagues, unbelievable. I am super grateful to be able to be part of this journey.

“I love football, I’ve watched videos of Marco van Basten on YouTube. You look at his time here, the goals he scored. Even though he wasn’t long…the impact that he had,” Origi continued.

“I watched other strikers, such as Andriy Shevchenko, Filippo Inzaghi, and George Weah, I am not even naming half of them, a lot of iconic players. I love this.

“I’ll study the language, the culture and enjoy the time here. For me, it’s a joyful experience. My focus is to be able to prep as soon as possible, come to the team and be able to get better every day.”
