Divock Origi is free to sign for Milan as a free agent as he has failed to reach the number of appearances necessary to extend his Liverpool contract by one more season.

The Belgium international is in advanced talks over a free move to San Siro in the summer. According to multiple reports, he will sign a €4m-a-year deal with the Rossoneri after his contract with Liverpool expires.

According to The Athletic, Origi has failed to reach the number of appearances needed to extend his contract at Anfield until 2023. Therefore, he will leave the club on a free transfer.

The report confirms that Milan are in advanced talks with the 27-year-old. Origi will likely be only the first signing to strengthen Milan’s attack in 2022-23. Elliott are in talks with Investcorp and RedBird Capital Partners over the club’s takeover, which should be completed by the end of the season. The Rossoneri will bring in more attacking reinforcements in the summer, regardless of the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

  1. @ Donato Another EPL reject player running to SerieA and then when he explodes in SerieA, EPL comes running back with several millions eg Pogba, Lukaku, Salah ( just a few) it can happen to anyone! A player might fail in one league or club and explode in another ( just remember Milan giving up Pirlo for free because we thought he was finished or Shevi failing in England and Ramsey failing in Italy. It’s called football and we have to learn to stop judging players or coaches by their last failure in a different league or club ( Atlanta coach Gaspirini failed at Inter and Ancelotti being fired by hopeless Napoli) This guy is a 50/50 bet so if it works, we have a lot to gain and if it doesn’t, he will be shipped out as well!

  2. He’s a top player who never got a proper run of games at Liverpool. Judging him by his time there is flawed to say the least. We’re getting him at 27 on a free, no brainer. If he gets a run as a 9 he’ll score 15-20 in the league next season.

  3. Well said @Stan. Origi is a good signing. I believe Zlatan will retire and Milan sign another striker and a right winger as well, so Origi could cover both positions.

He has always scored important goals in important matches throughout his career and comes with Champions League experience.
