Coach Giampiero Ventura unveils a new 4-2-4 system with several young players, including debutant Davide Zappacosta.

“We had a series of injuries that unfortunately forced us to leave some important players at home,” Oriali told Rai Sport.

“There are some promising young players coming in and this is an opportunity we hope can bode well for the future.

“They still need to be faced with the right attitude and at the end we’ll hopefully be happy.”

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio said today that failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup would be a tragedy.
