Due to the impending takeover by a Chinese consortium, the Diavolo cannot buy Deulofeu outright or sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

CEO Adriano Galliani confirmed yesterday that this is the sticking point, as Milan are offering a straight loan or a loan with the option to buy.

However, the latter option also presents a problem as Barcelona have a buyback clause for the summer, and there cannot be two conflicting options.

According to Milan TV, there were further talks this morning, and there is optimism after some slight progress in the talks.

Despite this, nothing is certain or definitive and the Rossoneri will not budge from their stance over a loan with obligation.

One option would be to negotiate with Barcelona too, convincing the Blaugrana to give up their option to make way for Milan’s.
