Just one of two teams, Juventus or Verona, will be able to finish the second round of Serie A fixtures with a 100% record still intact after the conclusion of Sunday’s entertaining matches.

Chance for Verona and Juventus to lead Serie A after two games

Coincidentally, Juventus and Verona, the only two teams with a 100% record so far, will meet each other on Monday night, so there can quite literally only be one winner on that occasion.

There is a possibility, of course, that Verona-Juventus ends in a draw on Monday night, which would mean that no team in the division will have won both of their first two league matches of the season.

Reigning champions Inter currently lead the way as things stand on Sunday night, thanks to their 2-0 win over Lecce on Saturday.

Torino, Genoa, Parma, Udinese and Empoli are all tied for second place as it stands. When level on points, the first determining factor in Serie A is head-to-head, and then goal difference. None of the aforementioned teams have faced each other yet and are all tied up on goal difference.

Both Verona and Juventus will have a chance to be the outright leaders in Serie A after Monday night’s game. Both team require the win in order for that to happen.

If either side does come away with three points, then they will already have a two-point lead over Inter with just two matches played.
