New Napoli coach Francesco Calzona took his first training session in charge of the club on Tuesday afternoon and had all but one of his Partenopei players available to him at Castel Volturno.

Calzona was appointed Napoli coach on a short-term deal until the end of the 2023-24 season on Monday evening, almost immediately after the club announced the departure of former boss Walter Mazzarri.

The new coach has had to hit the ground running, as Napoli are currently preparing to host Barcelona at the Stadio Maradona in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night.

The positive news for the new boss is that practically every senior player is available for the Barcelona clash.

January signing Cyril Ngonge was the only player who was unable to take part in full training with the rest of the first team squad on Tuesday.

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Ngonge trained individually on precautionary grounds, as he had been on the receiving end of a tough tackle during Monday’s session.

It is hoped that Ngonge will still be available for selection against Barcelona on Wednesday.
