The Fiorentina awakening

After losing five crucial players in the last transfer window, the most interesting thing about Fiorentina at the start of the season was Stefano Pioli's beard. Now the Coach has helped a number of youngsters to step into the breach and, following the death of Davide Astori, the talented individuals have been moulded into a cohesive unit.

Fiorentina are currently the only team with five successive wins and are only four points away from a Europa League spot. This weekend they will be facing Roma in the most entertaining game of the week, as the Giallorossi are also hoping to secure their ticket to the Champions league.

Derby della Lanterna

Both Sampdoria and Genoa had lost three of four Serie A fixtures, until each grabbed a vital win ahead of the derby.

Samp have had the upper hand in the last three derbies, however Davide Ballardini has taken charge of Genoa for three previous derbies and didn't lose any of them.

The Coach will have a chance to continue his record, as Sampdoria have the weakest backline in all the top 12 teams in the league, while Fabio Quagliarella and his teammates will be playing with a never-say-die attitude to continue their journey as the dark horses of this campaign.

An Invincible Handanovic

After pulling a couple of brilliant saves in the Derby della Madonnina, Samir Handanović has maintained his status by keeping a fifth clean sheet in a row for Inter.

Following a series of disappointing results, Inter are on the road to revive their sky high confidence and strive for a place in the top four.

The 33-year-old shot stopper is keen on making his Champions League debut next season, as he is the most in form player in Luciano Spalletti's troops. Will he be able to stop Il Toro who slammed eight goals in their last two ties?

Napoli six feet from the edge

Napoli’s record of just one win in five matches has handed the initiative to Juventus in the Scudetto race.

Maurizio Sarri and his men have been suffering a lack of form since the start of March, and will be hoping to kick-off this month with renewed mindset to chase the Old lady for the most important title in Italy.

The Partenopei should use Chievo's game on Sunday to regain their confidence, while hoping that Juventus will be a little shaky after their loss to Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri still have to face Roma, Inter and Napoli themselves before the end of the season, but it’s imperative that the Neapolitans remain within touching distance.

Immobile on the verge of history

It was impressive how easily Ciro Immobile took the national team criticism off his back and bagged a brace against Benevento last weekend, and the final goal in the Biancocelesti's Europa League win over RB Salzburg.

Immobile has already fired 26 goals this season better than any of his previous campaigns in Serie A and is four goals away from joining Luca Toni and Gonzalo Higuain as the only strikers to have managed to score 30+ goals since 1959.

This Sunday they will be up against Udinese whohave suffered defeats in their last seven games, how close can the hitman get from making the record?
