Olympique Marseille have asked after former Lazio and Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri as they look for a possible replacement for Jean-Louis Gasset.

Les Phocéens currently find themselves eighth in the table with a handful of matches left to play, leaving them far off the European spots after a difficult campaign. Fans are expecting sweeping changes in the summer as they look to return to the upper echelons of Ligue 1.

Sarri unexpectedly resigned from Lazio back in March and has been linked with a number of jobs over the last few months, including Milan, Napoli, Torino, Fiorentina and even his old club Chelsea, suggesting an interesting summer for the Italian tactician.

Marseille ask after Sarri

Nicolo Schira details how Marseille have approached Sarri to explore a possible move in the summer, wanting to find a replacement for Gasset. The French side already wanted the coach following his one-year spell with Juventus, but he declined the offer as he wanted to take a year away from football.

The 65-year-old tactician is not expected to stay way from football for long this time, so updates regarding his future are expected in the coming weeks.
