Gianfranco Zola has left Chelsea for the second time following Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager.

It was finally confirmed on Thursday that Lampard had returned to Chelsea, replacing Maurizio Sarri after his move to Juventus.

That has left Zola without a job after the Englishman decided to bring in his own backroom staff.

Voted the Blues’ greatest-ever player in 2003, the former Italy attacker was brought in as Sarri’s assistant last season.

Voted the Blues’ greatest-ever player in 2003, the former Italy attacker was brought in as Sarri’s assistant last season.

They guided the Londoners back into the Champions League, courtesy of a top-four finish in the Premier League, and delivered the Europa League.

In a lengthy statement, Chelsea assured he would ‘of course always be welcome back’ at Stamford Bridge.
