FIFA has officially confirmed the 2022 World Cup will be played across November and December.

The tournament will be held in Qatar, where temperatures in the summer regularly reach up to 50 degrees celsius in the summer, when the World Cup is traditionally held.

Having agreed to a winter World Cup in principle in March, world football’s governing body today confirmed the event will be held in the winter.

The tournament will kick-off on November 21, and will run until December 18, which is Qatar’s national day.
