“Bye Sampdoria, and thank you to everyone for everything,” he wrote.

“I arrived in Genoa as a boy, a young player who was looking to find his feet. I leave Genoa as a man and a professional.

“The credit goes to Samp and its fans who have accompanied me over these years with attention and affection.

“I have wanted to share every day with you, through the good and bad, and today I begin this new adventure stronger, with more energy and a lot of experience, with the joy of being the first Samp captain to score a brace in the derby.

“With these memories, I will never feel alone.”
