Hellas Verona have officially signed Ivan Ilic on a permanent transfer for €7.5m fee, but it’s reported Manchester City retained a buy-back clause.

The midfielder had already spent last season at the Stadio Bentegodi on loan and negotiations had been dragging on for months to make the deal work.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the final cost of the operation is €7.5m, becoming the second most expensive signing in the history of Verona.

He put pen to paper today on a contract that runs to June 2026.

However, Manchester City retained a buy-back option in case they want to give Ilic another shot in England.

Ilic only turned 20 in March and had also been linked with Torino, where he would’ve reunited with ex-Verona coach Ivan Juric.

He already has two senior caps for Serbia and last season contributed three goals in 30 appearances for Hellas Verona between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
