Chievo have officially confirmed the mutual termination of Giampiero Ventura’s contract after just four games in charge.

The 70-year-old offered his resignation after the draw with Bologna at the weekend, but the Flying Donkeys initially tried to convince him to stay.

Club legend Sergio Pellissier publicly criticised him though, indicating he’d lost the dressing room, and today his departure has been agreed, exactly a year after his Italy side failed to reach the World Cup.

“A.C ChievoVerona announces the consensual resolution, which took place today, of the contract which tied Giampiero Ventura to ChievoVerona until June 30, 2020,” a statement on the club’s website confirms.

“At the same time the resolution of the contracts with assistant coach Salvatore Sullo and with physical trainer Alessandro Innocenti is announced.”

Domenico Di Carlo is expected to replace Ventura, on a contract until the end of the season.
