Newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia have officially signed American midfielder Tanner Tessmann from FC Dallas.

The USA international has put pen to paper on a contract to June 2025.

Negotiations had been reported for several weeks after he impressed in MLS and made his first senior appearance for the USMNT in February.

“Ever since I came to the academy at 14 years old, FC Dallas was developing me, honing my skills and making me a better young man. I knew an opportunity like this would be possible and it was always in the back of my mind, only because FC Dallas was there,” Tessmann told the FC Dallas website.

“I’m excited for this new experience. It’s going to be a good journey. This is not a goodbye. It’s an ‘I’ll see you soon.”

The deal is believed to be worth in the region of €3m.

Tessmann will turn 20 years of age in September and is another American talent coming to Serie A after Weston McKennie at Juventus and Roma full-back Bryan Reynolds.

There could soon be another, because there are reports Venezia are also in advanced negotiations for Sporting KC midfielder Gianluca Busio.
