Venezia have officially signed French striker Thomas Henry from Oud-Heverlee Leuven, beating Celtic and Genoa.

It’s reported the deal is worth €6m plus performance-related bonuses, and the Belgian side will also receive a cut of any future transfer fee if he is sold.

The centre-forward has signed a three-year contract worth an initial €800,000 per season.

Henry turns 27 next month and has already found the net three times in four games so far this term.

He got 21 goals in 31 Jupiler Pro League appearances in the 2020-21 campaign, having been signed in January 2019 for just €500,000 from AFC Tubize.

Henry spent time in the FC Nantes youth academy, also representing Beauvais, Frejus-St-Raphael, FC Chambly and AFC Tubize.

This is the second striker that Venezia have signed from Belgium this summer, after David Okereke arrived on loan with option to buy from Club Brugge.

The Lagunari opened their Serie A season with a 2-0 defeat to Napoli on Sunday.
