Newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia have officially signed Benfica and Nigeria right-back Tyronne Ebuehi.

The deal is a loan for one season with obligation to buy if the Lagunari remain in Serie A for the 2022-23 campaign.

They earned promotion from Serie B via the play-offs, stepping up along with Empoli and Salernitana.

Ebuehi was born in the Netherlands, but plays his international football for Nigeria, and spent this season on loan at FC Twente.

The 25-year-old scored one goal and provided one assist in 33 Eredivisie appearances, while he has 10 senior caps for Nigeria.

He is the third major signing of Venezia’s summer after LASK left-back David Schnegg and Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Dor Peretz.
