Venezia have officially signed United States international midfielder Gianluca Busio from Sporting Kansas City.

His MLS club had already made the announcement on Thursday, but newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia confirmed it this afternoon.

The terms have not been revealed by either side, but are believed to be in the region of €7m, Sporting KC calling it a ‘club-record deal.’

He had been involved in the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, making six appearances in the tournament for the United States.

Despite his tender age, turning 19 in May, Busio already has 70 appearances for Sporting KC in all competition over the last four seasons.

As the name would suggest, his father is Italian, meaning he will be able to register for Venezia as an Italian player and not take up a non-EU slot in the squad.

Busio becomes the second Unites States and MLS player to join Venezia this season, after Tanner Tessman made the transfer from FC Dallas in July.
