As expected, Tottenham Hotspur have returned goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini to Atalanta after his loan spell, but he will not remain in Bergamo.

Spurs took the shot-stopper on loan in July 2021 and had an option to make the deal permanent for circa €15m.

They chose not to take that up and today announced he had been released back to Atalanta.

The 27-year-old is not going to stay in Bergamo, where La Dea already have Juan Musso between the sticks.

He made just 10 competitive appearances for the Premier League side, none of them in the Premier League, sticking to the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Conference League.

There has been interest so far from Fiorentina and Torino, while Lazio are also an option, as Thomas Strakosha is heading towards Fulham.

Gollini has one senior cap for Italy, which was earned in November 2019.
