Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has been diagnosed with cholecystitis and will undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder today, Spurs confirmed.

The Premier League side revealed Conte has recently been unwell with severe abdominal pain and exams underwent by the Italian tactician led to a cholecystitis diagnosis which must be treated with surgery.

“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the Club wishes him well,” Spurs said in an official statement published on their official website and social media.

Spurs host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Sunday.

If Conte doesn’t recover in time for the game, he will be replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini who has been following the former midfielder at Inter and in North London.

Conte has won 37 of his 66 matches in charge of Tottenham since his appointment in November 2021.

Spurs will meet Milan in the Champions League Round of 16 and the first match will be played at San Siro on February 14.
