Torino have officially sacked Marco Giampaolo after a disastrous start to the season and seem set to hire Davide Nicola.
The decision was made following Saturday’s dismal 0-0 draw with Spezia, a side that was reduced to 10 men for over 80 minutes.
“Torino Football Club announce that they have sacked Marco Giampaolo from the position of the first team,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The club thanks Giampaolo and his staff for the professionalism and commitment shown in these months with the Granata.”

The Granata managed just two wins, seven draws and nine defeats in Serie A this season, scoring 26 goals and conceding 35.
They also crashed out of the Coppa Italia Round of 16 this week, having forced Milan to extra time and penalties.
Giampaolo was fired and the new boss in charge seems set to be Davide Nicola, who had represented Torino as a player in the 2005-06 Serie B season.
He is from the Turin area and never disguised the fact he is a Granata supporter.
Nicola is known as a coach who can rescue teams from desperate situations, breaking records with his comeback at Crotone in 2016-17.
The 47-year-old repeated it by taking Genoa out of the drop zone in 2019-20.
He had still been under contract with the Grifone and needed to terminate his deal with them by mutual consent before signing for Toro.
