Southampton loanee Carlos Alcaraz suffered a hamstring injury during a Juventus training session on Wednesday and will remain out of action for at least two weeks, but Weston McKennie partially returned to group training.

There is bad and good news for Juventus fans coming from Continassa today. Alcaraz, one of their January signings, has suffered a muscle injury and will remain out of action for at least two weeks.

“Carlos Alcaraz suffered a muscular problem in his right hamstring during Wednesday’s training session. This Thursday morning he underwent medical tests at J|Medical, which revealed an injury,” Juventus said in an official statement.

“He will be re-evaluated in 10-15 days’ time to determine the exact extent of the injury and to define the recovery time required.”

Alcaraz joined Juventus on loan from Southampton in the January transfer window. The Serie A giants can make his move permanent for €49.5m at the end of the season.

Sky Sport says Italia Alcaraz won’t return to action for at least one month.

The 21-year-old started a Serie A game for the first time on Sunday, in Juventus’ 2-1 loss against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona.

The good news for Juventus is that USMNT international McKennie partially trained with the group on Thursday morning, while Mattia Perin and Adrien Rabiot continued training separately, Football Italia understands.

McKennie suffered a dislocated shoulder against Frosinone two weeks ago and missed Sunday’s game against Napoli.
