Paulo Sousa is officially the new Coach of Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux, having been previously linked with the Roma job.

The Portuguese tactician put pen to paper today on a four-year contract.

“My vision of the role at Bordeaux, as with every club I have worked at, consists of creating and developing a philosophy of football and identity that reflect history and will last for the future,” he told the club website.

Sousa has coached in various countries and clubs, including Swansea, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Basel and Fiorentina.

He was most recently in China with Tianjin Quanjian, who fired him.

As for the Roma bench, that position went to Claudio Ranieri this afternoon.
